Card extenders for MCI JH16 & JH24 recorders.
These allow you to take measurements or make internal adjustments that would not be accessible while the cards are installed.
Limited quantities are available, as we designed these extenders for in-house use. If there is enough demand for them we can have more fabricated.
They are sold assembled as a set of two extenders – one for each size of card used.
Be sure to check if you have the early audio cards or later ones. The early cards are AMPEX AG440 clones and are not the same!

Description
These extender cards are designed to work with MCI JH16 and JH24 tape recorders.
They allow you to take measurements or make internal adjustments that would not be accessible while the cards are installed.
Since MCI used the same size cards in multiple areas only two cards are required. For example, the Reproduce and Bias Amplifier extender is keyed to allow it to be installed in either the Reproduce Amplifier or Bias Amplifier slot.
The set includes two extender cards:
- 441-001-01 for the Reproduce and Bias Amplifiers
- 441-002-01 for the Record Amplifier
The boards are tin-plated and the card edge is chamfered to allow easy insertion and avoids damage to the fingers or contacts inside the mating connector.
The card connector is made by Sullins and is a bellow design with gold plated contacts. This style of contact has a longer insertion life (how many times you can plug/unplug) than other types. The right angle style connector has holes that allow it to be bolted to the PCB – removing any stress on the pins themselves.
